FREE OTAGO Fall Prevention Series coming to CHIMAYÓ and SANTA CRUZ

Stay Strong. Stay Independent.
SANTA FE COUNTY, NM — September 22, 2026 — Villages of Santa Fe and Bridge to Health NM, in partnership with the University of New Mexico Office for Community Health, are bringing FREE 10-week Otago fall prevention programs to Chimayó and Santa Cruz.
Otago is an internationally recognized fall-prevention exercise program designed specifically for older adults. Through progressive strength and balance exercises, participants learn practical ways to reduce their risk of falling and remain active and independent.
The program is designed for older adults at a variety of fitness levels, and no previous exercise experience is necessary. After completing the 10-week program, participants can say:
I understand my fall risk.
I know where to get help.
I know what I can do about it.
And this is my plan.
Classes are intentionally kept small to provide participants with individualized attention, with space limited to 15 participants at each location. Come check it out and get FREE balance assessments. Visit the location closest to you:

“Falls are not an inevitable part of aging,” said Ann Church, founder of Villages of Santa Fe and Co-Chair of the New Mexico Adult Falls Prevention Coalition. “Our goal is to prevent falls before they happen by providing education, resources and evidence-based strategies that keep people active and independent.”
The Chimayó and Santa Cruz programs are part of a collaborative effort by Villages of Santa Fe, Bridge to Health NM and the University of New Mexico Office for Community Health to expand access to evidence-based fall prevention programs in Northern New Mexico.
